(Importance of Ashweeja Maasa and the Navaratri Festival)

Date : 07 Oct 2005

Background

The importance of Ashweeja Maasa and the Navaratri Festival: Deepa Samyojanaat Gnyaanam Putra Laabho Bhavaet Dhruvam are described in Mantralaya(83).

Meaning

Sri Hari is wholly Worshipped during Navaratri.  I wish to share  the sacred routine to the Mantralaya Devotees before starting the Purusha Sukta-Explanatory Descriptive Definition by  Mantralaya Rayaru in the next series.

We can find all the elaborate preparations, cleaning and decoration with Bhakti and Joy. Devotees will light the Deepas in the name of their family god and Goddess(Kulaswami and Kulaswamini). Nine Says and Nine Nights Deepas are constantly lighting and delighting. So this Festival is  called NAVARATRI.  The  most popular Festival to the HINDUS.

In Tirumala the grandeur of Navaratri  of Sri Srinivasa Devaru cannot be described in words. Brahmotsava, all several Utsavas of Lord Sri Venkateshwara-the Rhythm of  the sacred  MANTRA :  OM SRI VENKATESHAYA NAMAHA will be echoing in the surroundings. In the name of Kulaswami the Mantralaya Devotees will have Nanda Deepas during this Navaratri one pair of Ghee Deepas and one pair of oil Deepas, total four Deepas, thus praying the Lord Sri Hari- Sri Srinivasa to fulfill always the most desired
Chaturvidha Purushaartha and Bless. In Mantralaya like this Hundreds of Deepas-Nanda Deepas in front of Mantralaya Mandira-Sri Raghavendrateertharu-Gururaya is worth seeing, Praying,  Worshipping and Surrendering. In   Mantralaya and Tirupati we can find all the time Navaratri. During this Ashweeja Maasa  this  Navaratri is a special one. We do all this and Pray to Rayaru and Swami to Bestow and Protect. We are purified, safe in the way of Bhakti and Punya.

The Avatara of Sri Hari as Srinivasa is to do the Uddhhaara of Vedavati and Bhrugurishi. Yashoda and all the Punyajeevis(souls) of the three Lokas Swarga, Martya and Paataala-Gods,Gandharvas, Yakshas,Apsaras,Rishis,Naagas(Sesha-Serpents) and all the Satvikas must see the Marriage of Sri Hari – Srinivasa along with Lakshmi is the aim of this Avatara, for the sake of us for our benefit and help lord Sri Hari has taken Avataras.

All these incidents are to be remembered during this Navaratri and Pathana of Bhavishyottara Purana by the Devotees during this   Navaratri Festival All the Pontiffs have their Mutts in Tirumala for the Benefit of the Devotees who visit for  Swami Darshana. Thus following practically the Essence of Tatvas of Sri Anandateertharu. The Mantralaya Devotees during this Navaratri go to five houses  and accept the handful of Rice saying – VENKATARAMANA GOVINDA GOVINDA with satisfaction.Ghatta of Sri Srinivasa
Devaru-Ghantamaala-Pooja-Naivedya-Mangalarati and holding the DEEVATIGE saying YELU KOTI GOVINDA GOVINDA all express and exhibit the DIVINITY-SANCTITY and the Anugraha of Kulaswami SrinivasaDevaru. Mantralaya Rayaru attained Punya of Srinivasa Devaru and is distributing magnanimously and protecting the Devotees. During this Navaratri the Gurustotra wordings of Sri Appanacharya:DEEPA SAMYOJANAAT GNYAANAM PUTRA LABHO BHAVAET DHRUVAM-Devotees fully with faith, placing the Nanda Deepas are Blessed in  the Yard of Tungabhadra in the shelter of  Mantralaya Rayaru are benefitted greatly.
