The importance of the Deepavali Festival and the Mantralaya Devotees special style of celebration in accordance with the Sadaachaara of our Acharya Sri Madhwaryaru are described in Mantralaya(483).

On this auspicious day of Deepavali : Collection of lights. Lights and lights delight everywhere in all the houses. Colourful Vyomadeepa Prajwalana, Aakashadeepa Aakashabutti to attain the Anugraha of Sri Hari and Sri Mahalaxmi. For complete one month in the evening we observe Aakashadeepa Deeparadahane in this Karteekamaasa.

Though Deepavali looks Merry Festival of lights, it is completely based on religious ground and abundant human values leading to the betterment of life. Our culture purely depicts Bhakti and Sri Hari pooja vaibhava, Anugraha Saakaara and Anugraha Sanchaya. On the day of Narakachaturdashi sharp at the last moment of Braahmeemuhurta when the stars were twinkling on the sky, when the moonlight was still available Sri Krishna Paramatma killed the enemy of Sri Hari - Hari Vayiri - Hari Dweshi Narakaasura early in the morning. Also freed 16,100 women from the prison cell of Narakaasura. The Gods from heaven expressed their happiness and performed Ratnadaarati to Sri Krishna for his brave and courageous act. All these 16,100 beautiful ladies were all the devotees Parama Bhaktaru of Sri Krishna. Forgetting their age they all accepted Sri Krishna as Patideva and worshipped. All these 16,100 women were Sadhwis and Pativrutashiromanis. They all liked, worshipped in their heart as PATIHI YEVA CHA. Sri Purandaradasaru has said in the song of Sudaama:

Sudamana Haadinali Sri Purandaradasara Vaakya
HaStotradinaaru Saav ira Chadureyara Karyisida
Kodisidellarigoo Tandilava

When Sudaama came to Mathhura for the Darshana of Sri Krishna, his wife gave a handful of Avalakki to give it to Sri Krishna. She borrowed that Avalakki from the able sajjana's house. It was full of Sudaama's Bhakti to Sri Krishna. So Krishna did not eat himself, he called and distributed that to all the 16,100 women.

16,100 Women availed the Darshana of Sri Krishna with affection and devotion, actually gazing Sri Krishna Aapaadamouli Paryanta, filled the Swami image personality in their heart and mind. Not only that all of them with their eyes performed Aarati to Sri Krishna. As a symbol of this the ladies are performing the Neerajanadarati to all the household members on this day. This is being continued from several Yugas. We feel happy that in Mantralaya Nitya Mangalarati, devotees perform Aarati to Rayaru at the time of Darshana. On the day of Deepavali by Deepa Samyojana we acquire everything in life.

DEEPA SAMYOJANNAT GNYANAM SARVSWAM AAPTNOTI BHAKTAAHA

We have already fully aware of Sri Neerajanashtaka described by Sri Krishnavadhhotaru in Sri Raghavendra Tantra which is simply wonderful and we will attain the Anugraha of our Rayaru:

The meaning of this Shloka of SRI RAGHAVENDRATANTRA by the greatest Devotee Sri Krishnavadhhotaru is that our Kind Sri Raghavendrateertha Gurusarvabhoumaru will always Protect and take care everywhere and in all our undertakings. In the morning and in the day time, in the night and in the evening and the afternoon, during our sleep and awake - Jaagruti and Sushupti. In all my works and always Protect us. Where ever we are the Sannidhaana of Mantralaya Gururayaru will come and help to the maximum extent to those Devotees as our Senior Hyderabad Devotee always says Complete Surrendering to our Sri Raghavendrateertharu with Firm Faith and Constant Belief. Rayaru listens the call of the devotees carefully and affectionately.

On the day of Deepavali Narakachaturdashi it is compulsory to take oil bath from top to bottom Abhyanjana - we believe that in oil the sannidhaana of Sri Laxmidevi and in water the Sannidhaana of Sacred Ganga. So oil bath is compulsory to all including the widows and the sanyasis. ABHYANJANA MAJJANA - ABHYANJANA SNAANA. On this day Abhisheka of oil to our Gururayara Brindavana in Mantralaya and then all the Abhishekas follow as per the schedule.

On the day of Deepavali Amavasye we perform Mahalaxmi Pooja:

Sri Mahalaxmi is performing the Paada Seva of Sri Hari at the bottom of the ocean sleeping on Aadishesha. We request Sri Mahalaxmi to come to our Place our residence as I do not know your PARAMAM ROOPAM - Divya Roopam. We worship Mahalaxmi with grandeur and all the decoration of light and flowers.

It is very rare to find the Anugraha and the affection of Sri Laxmi and Sri Saraswati in one place. Sri Mahalaxmi and Sri Saraswati are highly pleased to Rayaru and Mantralaya Sri Raghavendrateertha Gurusarvabhoumaru has acquired the Anugraha. Today's picture of Mantralaya is itself a witness. Though the Mantralaya Devotees are greatly Blessed by Sri Laxmi and Sri Saraswati and the Paramaanugrha of Rayaru they are polite and well behaved. Interact with each other with love and affection and sharing the Mahima of Mantralaya Prabhuvarenyaru. The world devotees of Mantralaya are always thinking the welfare of Manukula.

We perform Kubera Pooja Deepotasava with Sri Mahalaxmipooja on this day of Deepavali. Actually worship money and gold. The Anugraha of Lakumi is highly essential to all of us to lead a decent, happy and contented life. We also light Ulkaadeepa on the day of Narakachaturdashi and Amavasya with devotion after the sunset. This is of great importance. Yamadharmaraja releases all the jeevas from Yamloka to receive the offering of J ALA - TILA - ANNA SAMARPANA by his family through the Vishwedevas.Ulkaadeepa marks the samaaropa of Mahalaya Paksha and this Ulkaadeepa helps, directs the Pitrus to Paramagati and Sadgati. The celebration of each Festival has got its own importance of Manukuloddhara and Manukula Hitachintana in manifolds. Duringthis Karteekamaasa after the Sunset the Karteekadeepotasava will be celebrated in all the temples and mutts in all the villages, towns and the cities of our country. The Karteeka Deepotsava is the Pooja of Maasa Niyamaka Sri Indira Damodara.
