Sri Appanacharyaru and Sri Krishnavadhootaru the author of SRI RAGHAVENDRATANTRA.

The importance of Deepavali and the Celebration of Festival by the Devotees of our Mantralaya are described in Mantralaya(428).

Meaning

The auspicious dawn of Aashweeja Bahula Chaturdashi is famous as Narakachaturdashi. We celebrate this Festival as Deepavali. The Festival of Lights.

TAMASO MAA JYOTIRGAMAYAM  TAMASO MAA JYOTIRGAMAHA

On this day Lord Sri Krishna Paramatma killed Narakaasura. A Daitya - Daanava  - Raakshasa by name Naraka. Sri Hari Dweshi, a great enemy of Sri Narayana. As a mark of great victory,  all the Gods and Goddesses performed the Aarati of Ratna with pleasure to Sri Krishna on this day. Naraka has imprisoned all the 16000 women in his jail. Because all these women were the great devotees of Sri Krishnaswami. It is not wise and sane to say that Sri Krishna married all the 16000 women. More over all the 16000 women were not of same age, even elders were also included.  It is appropriate and proper to say that in those days the actual number of women was only 16000. The population of male was higher. Now at present we are facing the same problem. All the Women worshipped  Sri Krishna Paramaatma, liked him. This is quite clear from our Bhaagavata. When the women were released on this day by our Swami Sri Krishna, they felt happy and as a mark of respect and  gratitude they all performed Aarati to our Lord Sri Krishna, sharp at 5.40 am when the stars and the moon were still shining in the sky. They affectionately performed  the Aarati with their eyes.

Today we  Mantralaya Devotees  celebrate Narakachaturdashi  significantly.
Women perform Neerajina Aarati  first to the God and then to all the members. Aarati is Punyaprada. At the time of Aarati they dip the golden ring in the oil and apply the oil to the heads. It is  a mark, symbol of Sri Mahalaxmi Anugraha. It is a tradition and all follow strictly. On this day of Deepavali Narakachaturdashi we have  to take the oil bath, first we have to apply oil to our  whole body from top to bottom and bathe  with hot water. Sri Laxmi is in oil and Ganga is in water. Thus become pure and shuchi. We believe that by  Abhyanga Snaana on this day the poverty will never come nor cause.  We can say that Deepavali Abhyanga Snaana is like Avabhruta Snaana. Very Sacred and Holy. In Mantralaya all the Devotees on this day of Narakachaturdashi  take oil bath without fail including the Sevaarthhees of Sankalpa Seva. In Mantralaya on this day first Oil Abhisheka Tailaabhisheka  to Sri Praanadevaru and then to the Bhavya Divya Neela Brindavana to our Sri Raghavendrateertharu  and also to all the Yatis Brindavanas,

How Fortunate and Sacred are these Yatis. What ever Seva Alankara is done to Rayaru, the same thing will be followed to all the Yatis Brindavanas. In Hampi Chakrateerthha also Tailaabhyanjana first  to our Hanuma Bheema Madhwa Sri Yantroddhaara Swami and then the regular Pooja Abhisheka will be done on this day. In Bichali also Tailaabhyanjana to the Ek Shila Brindavana on the day of Deepavali.

The main aim and the motto of Deepavali is to acquire the  Anugraha, the Affection and the Blessings of  our Sri Harisarvottama and Sri Mahalaxmi. So we perform Deepavali Pooja with devotion and perfection. Deepa + Aavali = Deepavali. Meaning is Collection of Lights. The total light will simply vanish the darkness - Andhakaara, vanish the Paapas and Alaxmi Daridra Laxmi will simply quit. A great meaning is hidden in all our Festivals. We are amazed to the Manukuloddhaara Chintana and the Anugraha of Sri Hari in our FESTIVAL CELEBRATIONS.

Deepam Jyoti Para Brahma Deepena Harati Paapam

Bho Deepa Brahma Roopaha Tvam Andhakaara Nivaarakaha
Imaam Mayaa Krutaam Gruhnan Tejaha Mayi Pravartaya

Deepavaleem Maya Dattam Gruhaana Jagadeeshwara
Aaraartikya Pradaanena Gnyana Drushti Prado Bhava

On this day of Deepavali I  am lighting Deepa with affection, please Bestow Gnyana Drushti, Knowledge and Wisdom.

Deepa Lights Deepavali will  brighten the heart and the house. We gladly make the Aahwaahana of Sri Hari and Sri Mahalaxmi, welcome with joy and pleasure. So we illuminate our houses. Deepalankara to all the houses. Celebrate the Festival. Children will wear new dresses. To mark this Deepavali Fire crackers and  Brighter sparklers delight the entire environment. We have to use these things taking into consideration of young and old and our Mother Nature, thus the Celebration of Safe Deepavali is proper. In the Evening we  Perform and Celebrate  Sri Mahalaxmipooja, we also call as Kubera Pooja. One more interesting thing I wish to share with you all is that in each and every Festival we compulsory remember our ancestors, forefathers and the Pitrus. Outside the house and  on the top of the house we hang ULKAADEEPA, it is also called as Aakasha Deepa - Aakasha Butti.

Yamalokam Parityajya Aagataa Yae Mahaalayae
Ujwala Jyotishaa Dagdhaaha Tae Yaantu Paramaam Gatim

During Mahalaya our Pitrus are moved from Yamaloka to accept the food offered by their families. Their paapas will  be vanished by this Aakasha Deepa UlkaaDeepa and let them attain the Paramaam Gati.

During this Kaarteekamaasa Kaarteeka Deepotsava will be done without fail in all the temples where ever they are situated. Kaarteeka Deepotsava to Sri Hari Vayu Guru. In Mantralaya owing to the Sannidhaana of Sri Raghavendrateertha Gurusarvabhoumaru we are happy to Celebrate Nitya Deepavali Deepotsava as per the saying of our Uttanooru Bhaagannadasaru - Sri Gopaladasaru. We cannot find even a small particle of Paapa

Lavaleshavinitilla

Only the Punya and Punya of Himalayan height. To acquire Punya  our Mantralaya Devotees are completely and fully Surrendered to Sri Raghavendrateertharu. Our Bichali Japadakatti Sri Appanacharyaru has said in Gurustotra:

Deepa Samyojanaat Gnyanam Putra Laabho Bhavet Dhruvam
Para Vaadi Jayo Divya Gnyana Bhaktyaadi Vardhanam

By Deepa Samyojana we acquire Gnyana, when the Gnyanees do this their Knowledge will be grow considerably. Our assignments, works will be carried out smoothly and successfully. Desirous of Santaana will get Yogya Santaana. Those who are already having Santaana, that Santaana will become Gnyanavanta. During the Vaada Debate we attain Success and our Bhakti will grow by leaps and bounds.

Dear Devotees these are the benefits to us of Deepa Samyojana to our Rayaru. Our Kind Yatiraat Gururaat is in the Akhanda Deergha Japa of Sri Hari to protect all of us. Rayaru is kind enough to lead us on the  right Path of Success always. Our life is blossoming in the light of Mantralaya of Sri Harisarvottama and Sri Vayujeevottama.  Daily Devotees are experiencing this truth practically.

There is no meaning in celebrating without understanding the real meaning of Deepavali only  making of new purchasings, illumination of our residence with serial lights etc. Deepavali is really unique in its own religious importance in several ways. Understand properly and Celebrate. Let us remove the darkness, Aham Bhaava from our heart , be kind and courteous to others and attain the Anugraha of our Sri Raghavendrateertha Gurusarvabhoumaru on this day of Deepavali:
