Background

The Divine Personality, abundant knowledge and the way in which Sri Jaiteertharu composed the Teekas are described in Mantralaya(304).
 
 

Meaning

"Agnyaana Timrachchedam "

has beautifully described the importance of the NAME JAITEERTHA with each and every alphabet of Devanaagari script.:
 

• Ja  : Means always victorious Jayasheela
• Ya  : Means Yama will  also be  afraid
• Tee  : Means Darkness of Sins will be destroyed.
• Thha:  Means all the Taapatrayas, Adhyatmika, Aadi Daivika and Aadi Bhoutika will be freed. Free from all these worries and troubles.

The world devotees have come to know about  the greatness of Sri Jaiteertharu and today praying and indulged in the Seva of Sri Jaiteertharu and are acquiring the Anugraha. This year we are celebrating 643rd. Year's Aradhana. It is interesting to know that our sixth pontiff Sri Jaiteertharu is not only belonged to the UttaradiMutt, but belongs to all the Mutts of Dwaita. Rayara Mutt including the Ashta Mutts of Udupi started by our  great and noble Sri Acharya Madhwaru. Dwaita Peetha parampare is Ekamevaadwiteeya.At that time there was no Uttaradi Mutt and Rayara Mutt. Only one Mutt Sri Madhwacharya Dwaita Mutt. Bifurcation took place after the tenth pontiff Sri Ramachandrateertharu. So Yergol is quite memorable in the history of our Mutts.

Sri Jaiteertharu  composed the Teekas to the works of Sri Madhwacharyaru sitting in this sacred cave of Yergol(situated in Karnataka - India, only 17kilometers fro Yadgir) Actually our Eastern Ghat starts from Yergol and which has stretched upto Sri Shailam and there reached the hills of Swami Tirumalai. So holy and sacred is our Yergol. More over the immense profound silence also inspired Sri Jaiteertharu to select Yergol. Here at this sanctum Sri Maruti - Sri Hanumanthadevaru is the only witness to the writings of our Sri Jaiteertharu -  Saakshiga. So Maruti is famous and popular as Saakshee Praanadevaru.

After the great war of Mahabharata which continued for 18 days, Pandavas won as the Lord Sri Krishna Paramtma was in Pandava Paksha.  Arjuna while talking with his elder brother Sri Bheemasenadevaru boasted that he is mainly responsible for the victory of the great war. When Arjuna uttered this sentence Sri Bheemasenadevaru said you beast you have  completely forgotten Sri Krishna. Sri Krishna is responsible to the great victory. Who always said:

Mama Praanaahi Pandavas

Pandavas are my very life, I love them, dear and near to me always. Sri Krishna is the inspirer, the supporter and  the protector for all the actions and deeds. Forgotten that and acted like a  beast, so you will get Pashu Janma, the life of the beast. Then Arjuna asked dear brother what is next? Bheemasenadevaru said do not worry, I will be with you. Owing to this Arjuna was born in the womb of the cow as a male calf and became a bullock.

Sri Bheemasenadevaru was born in Paajaka as Sri Vasudeva and then became Acharya Sri Madhwaru - Sri SriMadacharyaru - Sri Madhwacharyaru - SriMat Anandateertharu, the first pontiff of our Dwaita Peetha Parampare.Sri Arjuna took the janma of Vrushbha and came to Sri SriMadacharyaru. Aparokshagnyani Sri Madhwacharyaru knew that this vrushbha bullock is none but Arjuna. Always did the seva of carrying the books and the other materials of Sri Anandateertharu from one place to the other. The affection and  intimacy grew day by day and finally the vrushbha became the dearest and the beloved shishya of Sri MatAnandateertharu.

By his Guru as Sri Madhwacharyaru Vrushbha knew and attained perfection of Dwaita philosophical teachings in the most decent way. Many have amazed to know about Vrushbha   listening the  Pravachana of Sri Anandateertharu, Sitting in front and nodding the head. So here it is very clear that even though Arjuna got the Pashu Janma made the best use performing the seva, listening the wordings of Sri Madhwacharyaru. So the saying in Kannada by our Dasaru:

Yettaagi Saadhanava Maadikonda Jayaraya is really meaningful.

Dear Devotees today we are enjoying the fruits of Sri Jaiteertharu's Teekas towards our Acharya Granthhas. While composing the Teekas at the cave took maximu strain, perhaps no Yatis have taken that much of pain as Sri Jaiteertharu has taken. Sometimes starved for several days,no food, to survive Jaiteertharu became a Shesha - a serpent. As the serpent can live with air only and without food. While composing Manuja Roopa after that a serpent. It is a fact actually. When Sri Vidyaranyaru came near the cave Jaiteertharu was in Shesha Roopa. Vidyaranyaru asked near the cave and said :

KORBHRAVAAN? Sri Jaiteertharu said  SAPPOHAM

Then Sri Vidyaranyaru said where is Refe, then Sri Jaiteertharu in the Shesha Roopa only replied  SARPOHAM I have to say and use the Refe,  but you have used that Refe, instead of KORBHAAVAN you have said  KORBHRAVAAN.

Immediately Sri Vidyaranyaru corrected the mistake and highly impressed to see the works Granthhas of Sri Jaiteertharu. Not only this he honoured and made the procession of SriManNyaayaSudha grantha on the elephant.

Our sixth pontiff Sri Jaiteertharu has written 18 granthhas of Teekas and 4 independent books Swatantra Granthhas. So Sri Jaiteertharu is popuar and wellknown as Teekarayaru  Teekakrutpaadaru. The world is amazed to know the scholarly style,gnyana,paanditya. Please have a look at the beautiful shloka :

Guru  Bhaavam Vyam Jayam Ti Bhaati Sri Jaiteertha Vaak.

Only this much is sufficient to describe the greatness of Sri Jaiteertharu and proudly say that Sri Teekarayaru is the Varaputra of Goddess Saraswati.

Each word and sentence is like a beautiful picture with all seriousness, precise and readily acceptable. As the wordings of Sri Jaiteertharu have described the heart and the essence completely. Such is the style of writing of our Sri Jaiteertharu. So in our Acharya Parampare Sri Jaiteertharu had a unique place and great importance. The valuable Teekas of  our great Yatiraat  became the divine guiding light to understand the teachings of Dwaita and further added impetus to the coming Yatis to compose Teekas,Tippanis etc.

Another important thing we have to know that Sri Jaiteertharu was a great Vairgya, we say Vairagya Shiromani. He had wealth, power that too at his prime youth. But he left everything and joined the Vedantha Samrajya, became a Sanyasi by  the eminent chetana his Guru  Sri Akshobhyateertharu, who imparted the whole teaching of the essence of Acharya Philosophy.

Sri Jaiteertharu himself has said that  his beloved Guru Sri Akshobhyateertharu had taught him like a parrot. How a parrot is trained to talk, like that Guru with great affection  trained Sri Jaiteertharu.
