Background

Dear Devotees: Namaskara.The Puny Kara Chaaturmaasa begins from Aashaadha Shuddha Ekadashi Friday July 03.09. Several Vrutas the Sajjanas start with Sankalpa.

Time and wait for none. Chaaturmaasa has just begun. Yatis and all the satvikas and the sajjanas follow the sanctity  of Vrutas and Niyamas in all respects from Aashaadha Shukla  Ekadashi to Kaarteeka Shuddha Dwadashi for four continuous months  and the Saakshaatkaara of Sri Krishna are described in Mantralaya(302).

Meaning

As the days are passed on,  the Punyakara Chaaturmaasa is just entering. All the arrangements for the Shayanotsava of Swami Sri Hari are in progress. As the name denotes Chaaturmaasa means four months.  The most auspicious time - Manvaadi to begin the Chaaturmaasa Vruta. Elaborate  preparations start from  Dashami itself. The day of Sankalpa is Ekadashi and the Vruta starts fromAashaadha Shukla Dwadashi. With the following shloka sarvikas do Sankalpa:

So in these four months commencing from Aashaadha Sukla Dwadashi to Kaarteeka Shukla Dwadashi we strictly follow the Vruta, during Shraavana no vegetables,fruits, including the coconuts and the plantains,only dry coconuts are used. Curd will not be uased during Bhaadrapada, In Ashweeja milk is not used and during Kaarteeka no pulses, dal,Dwidala is not used. The first and the last Vrutas are some what tough and serious, we say in Kannada as Kadutara Vruta .For Naivedya, Hastodaka and in our daily regular food also we observe this rule as per the above shloka. The Yatis will not perform Sanchara, they stay in one  place, owing to the rainy season  and indulge in Pooja, Paatha, Sachchhastra and Pravachana propagating Sri Harisarvottama and Vayujeevottama. Efforts are put forth to make our life meaningful so as to attain the Anugraha of Sri Hari and to become  Suddha Chetana Mukti Yogya is the main motto of this Chaaturmaasa. Sober food intake will infuse  sober ideas and thoughts in our heart and mind. Which leads to purify and understand the teachings of our Sri MatAnandateertha Bhagavatpaadacharyaru and think about the greatness of Paramatma and how jeevatma is completely surrendered to Sri Hari.

Here it is interesting to know that several sajjanas men and women strictly adhere to certain devotional practices. Some women opt to give Daana on the day of Dwadashi in the Chaaturmaasa. Some pooja, prayer and some sort of chanting stotras etc.Actually here  is a Devotee who has opted to chant Bichali Sri Appanacharyaru’s Rayara Stotra and try to see Rayaru, Mantralaya, Appanacharyaru and Bichali Japadakatti, when ever he finds time free from his work and routine, while sleeping also. This is continued till Tulasi  Vivaaha Kaarteeka Shuddha Dwadashi.

Every year Chaaturmaasa occurs. Without making much show, those who observe truly in their heart are liked by Sri Hari. Sri Prahlada,Sri Baahleeka,SriVyasarayaravatari our Bhaktavatsala, Karuna Samudra Mantralaya Vidya Matha Yativarenyaru  observed this Sacred Chaaturmaasa in the most desired way and acquired abundant Anugraha and the Affection of Sri Hari. Thus became a Divine Saint, became Dhanya, Kruta Krutya.

Every year as the Chaaturmaasa comes my heart will be plunged in grief :Dukhkha Madugatti and remember the Chaaturmaasa of Sri Raghavendrateertharu along with the Successor Sri Yogeendrateertharu in the Sri Venkateshwara Temple of Mantralaya. Dear world devotees perhaps this was the last Chaaturmaasa of our Sri GuruRayaru. During this Punyakara Chaaturmaasa only Rayaru entered the Brindavana SaShareera with a smile in Mantralaya and became invisible from our sight.

Dear Devotees, Sri Raghavendrateertharu is an extra-ordinary Divine Saint Yati. In Udupi our Sri Raghavendrateertharu is Fortunate enough to attain the Saakshaatkaara, Divya Darshana of Lord Sri Krishna - Churner Sri Krishna - Baala Gopala. Such a great Punya Chetanaru and we say:

Rayaru was listening the sweet melody of the flute and the sound of Ghill Ghill Gejje Naada in the Garbhaalaya where Rayaru was sitting in front of Sri Krishna. Divya Prakasha Soothing, brightness appeared but not able to see SriKrishna. Rayaru became too devotional and emotional and with the Veena in Bhairavee Raaga, a beautiful  Song, poem spontaneously composed and sang with utmost devotion and fully surrendered to Sri Hari:

The song echoed at the sanctum of Sri Krishna Temple. A Miracle happened at that time. A huge bunch of brightness Rayaru felt extremely happy to SEE the Holy Paadas of Sri Krishna. The joy of GuruRayaru knew no bonds. Swami how kind you are ! Listened my prayer and offered me the Divya Paada Darshana. BalaGopala you are so kind by Darshana I am so happy that my life became meaningful - Saarthhaka. Tears were rolling (Anandashru) from the eyes of Sri Raghavendrateertharu out of devotional ecstasy. The song continued:

Swami I am highly satisfied with your Paada Darshana.

At one place Lord Sri Krishna is playing the flute with sweet melody in the most hypnotizing way. On the other side Sri Raghavendrateertharu singing the song playing the instrument Veena that too in the Bhairavee Raaga, the entire environment was completely involved in the world of Music - Sangeeta Loka. The Astikas,Satvikas and the Sajjanas felt as though the Gandharva Loka, Yaksha Loka has descended from heaven. How fortunate  were the sajjanas who witnessed at that time, that grand holy scene. As Rayaru went on singing and singing all the flash back of previous avataaras remembered and said though a fond devotee of Sri Krishna under pressure and under circumstances during Baahleeka avataara joined against the real sajjanas, So committed grave mistakes. Rayaru did Antaranga Nivedane to Sri Krishna.

And the spontaneity of Ashukavitva continued. The Antahakarana (merciful heart) of Rayaru reached the climax in front of Sri Krishna in Udupi. Like a child prayed to the Lord  Sri Krishna with devotion.
