The elders, well wishers and the devotees of Sri Rayaru in Tanjore met Vijayaraghavanayak and explained him that at this juncture we have to go to Kumbhakonam and seek the valuable guidance of the kind Sri Raghavendrateertharu. The king repented a lot, if he would have already acted as per the guidance and advice of Rayaru today this plight should not have occurred. His father, forefathers were all the devotees of Vidya Mutt. Listened and acted as per the guidelines of the swamijis. At last the king decided to surrender to Rayaru .So went to Kumbhakonam along with his elders and well wishers. After reaching Kumbhkonam first they took the darshana of Sri Vijayeendrateertharu. Then met Sri Raghavendrateertharu. Immediately the king became too emotional and fell on the sacred feet of Rayaru and started weeping. Really performed the paadapooja
of Rayaru with his tears and prayed to protect from this horrible famine. People and the cattle are about to die for want of food and fodder. Gurudeva you have to save the Tanjore, no rains, no crops, every where abundant misery is prevailing in the kingdom. Aparokshagnyani Gururayaru came to know the grave situation and saw the scene of Tanjore. Took pity on the ruling king Vijayaraghavanayak and the people. Karunaalu Rayaru at once decided to solve this grave situation at any cost. Among all the yatis our Rayaru is too kind and affectionate. His heart is of a woman's heart. In kannada we say Hengarulu.
Rayaru said Rajan, I am very much shocked to listen the whole thing about the famine. I myself will come to Tanjore and assess the famine situation, find some ways and means to save the people. This is the first and the foremost duty. As per the prerana of Sri Hari and the blessings of Sri MoolaRamadevaru the problem will be solved permanently. You are all the patrons and the devotees of this Mutt. Your father and forefathers have liberally donated and supported the Vidya Mutt. It is my prime and holy duty to solve this problem. Do not worry, look I am here! Said Rayaru with great confidence. As per the prerana of Sri Moola Ramadevaru you have come to this Mutt for the welfare of the Tanjore people. Nothing to worry. Tomorrow only I will start my journey to Tanjore from Kumbhakonam.
You have come to our Vidya Mutt. You are all tired. Take prasadam in the Mutt and take rest here only. By hearing this the joy of the king knew no bonds. He again started shedding tears and fell on the sacred feet of Rayaru. Completely surrendered to the merciful Yatiraat Guru Sri Raghavendrateertharu.
Bichali Sri Appanacharyaru knew all this and has described beautifully in Sri Raghavendra Mangalashtaka Sitting in Bichali at the beautiful sanctum of Japadakatti, the river Tungabhadra was flowing, While writing all this the heart and the inward eyes of this great devotee Sri Appanacharya have witnessed this incident:

The sacred padukas of Rayaru are shining, glittering with the kaanti(light) of the crowns of the kings and the pandits as they were surrendered completely with respect, regard and devotion. The padukas of Rayaru will destroy the mass of all the papas i. e. sins. When the padukas are so sacred, then we can imagine how sacred, divine and noble are the Feet of Mantralaya Sri Raghavendrateertharu. Such a pious, divine saint has Blessed Sri Vijayaraghavanayak the king of Tanjore. What an amount of punya he might have acquired in his lifetime. Because he has touched the sacred feet, surrendered completely, squatted before Rayaru placed his head on the feet of Rayaru.
Again we remember the shloka of Bichali Sri Appanacharyaru:

Tanjore King Vijayaraghavanayak has completely
surrendered to our Kind Sri Raghavendrateertharu.Practically experienced
the wordings of Bichali Sri Appanacharyaru who has said afterwords that
Rayaru is Poojyaya, always indulged in Satya Dharma. So Rayaru is Bhajipara
Kamadhenu Namipara Kalpavruksha. Those who remember Sri Rayaru from his
head to the lotus feet, their obstacles will be cleared off soon and the
desired things will de fulfilled soon. For this our Tanjore king Vijayaraghavanayaka
is a great witness. Really the Tanjore king is a great punyavanta as he
interacted with devotion with this great punya chetana Sri Raghavendrateertharu
and saved the kingdom from the severe famine. This is a record in the history
for the paropakaara of our Sri Raghavendrateertha Gurusarvabhoumaru.
The world will always remember the act of
kindnesss of Rayaru.
