Background

Sondur Sri Krishnavadhooaru’s great regard and gratitude towards our Bhikshaalaya Sri Appanacharyaru and the importance of Gurustotra are described in Mantralaya(187).

Meaning

Mantralaya Rayaru, a great punya chetana dedicated himself to the welfare of Manukula of this universe as per the will and wish of Sri Hari. Bhikshaalaya Sri Appanacharyaru and Sri Krishnavadhootaru are the most dear, near, affectionate and obedient Shishyas ­ Bhaktas. They both blossomed on the bank of the sacred Tungabhadra river. Loved Mantralaya Rayaru like their father. To put in the words of Sri Krishnavadhootaru in Sri Raghavendra Tantra:

Lokae Pitroryatha Putrae Tatopi Premaadhikaat
Maam Rakshati Gurustasmaat Sa Pitaaham Cha TatSutaha.

Rayaru decided to stay permanently in Mantralaya which is situated on the bank of the Sacred Tungabhadra, so started the journey from Kumbhakonam, the Sacred bank of Kaveri to Mantralaya. During that time we are too fortunate that Rayaru came to Bhikshaalaya, the Holy Panorama of JAPADAKATTE simply won the heart of Rayaru.The affection, devotion, abundant knowledge Hari Bhakti, obedience and pleasing manners of Sri Appanacharya won the heart of Rayaru. The first meeting itself paved the way for deep and kind relationship between the two Chetanas. As days passed on it reached to such a point, that they cannot tolerate the separation of each other i. e. Mantralaya Rayaru and Bhikshaalaya Sri  Appanacharyaru. The inner doors of the heart opened and mingled. ANTARANGADA KADA we say in kannada. From that day a new era started in the life of Bichchale Appanacharya.

The complete surrender ­ Samarpana Bhaava and GuruBhakti of Appanacharya is always remembered as long as the Sun and the Moon are there ! We are lucky that Sri Appanacharya and Mantralaya Rayaru were the contemporaries. All over the world and in Mantralaya we find the Pathana of Gurustotra,in past also it was like this and in future also it will be same. Morning and evening the devotees Pathana of Gurustotra will be echoing in Mantralaya from the Tungabhadra to the Sri Mutt.

Sri Krishnavadhootaru has described in Sri Raghavendra Tantra, that Sri Appanacharyaru appeared in the dream and reminded him again and and told,for what purpose you born, remind that. Chant Sri Gurustotra, Worship Rayaru. Reminded more than two to three times, then Sri Muddukrishnacharya(Krishnavadhoota) started Chanting of Gurustotra :

By Sri Appanacharya found the path of Siddhi. My heart is always near the Lotus feet of Rayaru.

By Chanting gurustotra gained confidence towards Rayaru. Chanting Gurustotra and Pooja of Rayaru all became routine. Chanting of Gurustotra with complete involvement and Devotion itself is the Pooja Rayaru. Till then he had not chanted the Gurustotra. As he went on Chanting-Pathana of Gurustotra, Krishnavadhoota’s Devotion blossomed like a Lotus after the Sunrise. Here Sri Krishnavadhootaru  expressed his gratitude to Bhikshaalaya Appanacharya, for the inspiration to Chant Gurustotra which is Powerful to get the Affection of Rayaru. When Appanacharya appeared in the dream and said to chant Gurustotra,at that time Appanacharya was not in this world, as per the order of Rayaru, awakened Krishnavadhootaru and said this.

Gurustotra was composed by Bhikshaalaya Sri Appanacharya, extempore(AshuKavitva).Affection, devotion, grief, pratibha, gnyaana together combined  forcefully and powerfully, thus it has become STOTRARAJA. Composed when he was crossing the  Tungabhadra from Bhikshaalaya to Mantralaya, and finally got the Witness of Rayaru sitting in  Navyendropala Neela Bhavyakara Sadbrindavana as  SAAKSHIHAYASTOTRAHI.

In Sri RaghavendraTantra Krishnavadhhotaru has paid his tribute and homage to Appanacharya and magnified the importance of Gurustotra, which is as real factor. Today Gurustotra we can find almost in the crores and crores of devotees tongue, heart , chanting this stotra. Gurustotra is the main base of Sri Raghavendra Tantra. Honestly Said to the Devotees, that first read Appanacharya’s Gurustotra,then read Sri Raghavendra Tantra then only you will get your desired fruits. Without Gurustotra if they read only Raghavendra Tantra it will not be complete, it is half done says our RaghavendraTantrakaara.

Dear devotees the Mahima Miracle of Gurustotr cannot be described by mere words. Krishnavadhootaru is a great witness for the importance and the Miracle of GURUSTOTRA.

So devotees I appeal to all to read and chant Gurustotra with devotion without fail and acquire all the needs and requirements and there by increase the Punya and enjoy the peace, tranquil and happiness of Mantralaya.
