Mantralaya-174

(Hanumajayanti)

Date : April 2 2007

Background

On the eve of Sri Hanumajayanti the great rapasya of the great mother  Anjanadevi and Hanuma-Bheema-Madhwa’s importance are described in Mantralaya(174)..

Meaning

We devotees pray to Praana Devaru :

"Asaadhya Saadhak Swamin Asaadhya Tava Kim Vada
Rama Doota Daya Sindho MatKaaryam Saadhaya Prabho"
There is nothing impossible in this world to our Maruti, by His grace, karune, anugraha everything is possible. So the most beloved bhakta of Sri Rama kindly bestow success in my work - in all my works. So the popularity of Sri Praanadevaru cannot be described in mere words.

Chaitra Shukla Pournima is the very auspicious day. On that day our Sri Rama bhakta Sri Hanumantha was born. Our Hari Dasa have sang in their Padas : "Hanumana Nenedare Haari Hogodu Paapa !"  Yendu Haadiddu Artha Purna

Prathhamo Hanuman Naamaha Dwiteeyo Bheema Yevacha
Purna Pragnyaha Trateeyastu Bhagavat Karya Saadhakaha.

Sri Hanumantha Maruti Pavamana Anjaneya  was the previous Avatara of our Sri Madacharya. The meaning of Hanumantha is intelligent pure Paaparahita.

"Hanumananjani Sunoho Vayuputro Mahabalaha
Rameshthha Phalguna Sakhaha Pingaakshi Chhaati
Vikramaha.
Udadhi Kramanischaiva Seetha Shoka Vinaashakaha
Laxman Praana Daatacha Sugreeva Vasha Darpaha."

These are the lines in praise of our Sri Hanumantha Devaru.

Kapishreshtha Kesari and Anjanadevi a noble couple lived happily. Even after a long time of Dampatya Jeevana (Married life), they did not have children. This became a great cause of worry. After a long thinking Anjanadevi decided to meet the Rishi Muinis and seek their opinion and guidance. So Anjanadevi came to the Ashrama - to the hermitage of our Sri Matanga Muni.

So Anjanadevi reached the Sacred Hermitage and detailed the whole thing and their concern about the Santaana. Sri Matangamuni after a deep thinking felt extremely happy to know about the future happenings, with his Aparoksha Gnyaana as per the will and wish of Sri Hari. The kind and affectionate Muni suggested that on the Earth - Bhoomandala there is Pampa Sarovara - to the eastern side after a distance of fifty yojana (One Yojana means One thousand miles.),there is a temple of Sri Narasimhaswami. To the southern side of this temple there is Sri Swami Pushkaraniteertha. To the northern side of Swami Pushkaraniteertha with a distance of three miles, there is Aakasha Ganga Teertha. Anjanadevi should go to that sanctum, take the holy dip in the sacred Aakashaganga and should perform the Tapasya with intense mind and heart for a period of twelve years with devotion. After doing this she will get the best Santaana Phala. The born male child will be famous in all the Lokas.

After hearing this from Sri Matangamuni Anjanadevi reached the Narayana Parvata. Holy Bath in Swami Pushkaraniteertha, Namaskara and Pradakshina to Ashwatha Vruksha. Darshana and Seva of Varaaha Roopi Sri Vishnu- Sri Man Narayana- Varaahaswami.Drank only the pure and sacred water of Swamipushkaraniteertha. In accordance with Sri Matanga Muni’s saying and with the permission of her husband Kesari Anjanadevi indulged in Tapasya without taking any food. She became lean owing to the fasting and the Tapasya. Thus Naari Sri Anjanadevi’s MOST DIFFICULT Tapasya continued.

After one year Sri Vayu Devaru witnessed all this and by air went on throwing a fruit in front of Anjanadevi, and Anjanadevi ate only that fruit. This routine went on. One day Sri Vayu Devaru filled His semen in the fruit and straight away dropped in the hands of Anjanadevi, as Anjanadevi was hungry immediately she ate that fruit. Soon she became pregnant. The Joy of Rishi Munis and Matagamuni knew no bonds. The arrival of Vayuputra made all the Sacred people quite happy. Anjanadevi and Kesari also became extremely happy.

After the completion of Nine months and Nine days Sri Anjanadevi gave birth to a male child on the day of Chaitra Shukla Poornima. As per the opinion of Sri Matangamuni Anjanadevi named the noble child as Hanumantha. Thus Anjanadevi - merry Anjadevi was the proud mother to have Sri Hanumantha as her Son. As already said Haumath means intelligent intellect. He owns intellect Hanumath is Hanumantha. Hanuma Bheema Madhwa are the Sacred Avataras. All the Dwaita pontiffs including Malkhed Sri Jaiteertharu and our Mantralaya Sri Raghavendrateertharu etc. are all highly grateful and enlightened by Sri VayuPutra Anjaneya Praanadevaru.

Our great Sri Vijaya Dasaru in one his songs:

"Pavamaana Pavamaana Jagada Praana
Sankarushana Bhava Bhaya Harana"

The birth of Sri Praana Devaru marked a new era Manvantara to all of us and especially to Vaishnavas.Dear devotees, there is no village without the temple of Sri PraanaDevaru. So Sri Praana Devaru is so famous, popular and sacred. All the Hindus worship Sri Praana Devaru and there by attain Punya in their life.
